Krakow University of Technology and Elemental Strategic Metals are strengthening their cooperation. An agreement expanding joint activities in research, development of modern technologies and education was signed by Prof. Andrzej Szarata, Rector of the University, and Maciej Dudzic, Member of the ESM Management Board.
Until now, the partnership between the Krakow University of Technology and ESM has focused on cooperation between the company and researchers at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology. Thanks to the cooperation agreement — now extended to the level of the entire university and all of its research teams — the collaboration will significantly accelerate. It will include, among others:
– initiating and conducting implementation projects focused on the deployment of new, innovative technologies and solutions
– exchange of business, scientific, technical and technological knowledge between researchers of Krakow University of Technology and company specialists
– creating and developing joint laboratories, R&D centres and scientific-technical infrastructure
– broad educational and conference activities
– joint applications for R&D grants, both national and European
– publication of materials and scientific works documenting the results of cooperation, along with their broad dissemination
– supporting the development of scientific and specialist staff through training, workshops and knowledge exchange
Krakow University of Technology is another respected partner from the world of science and education with whom we are establishing cooperation. The agreement sets an ambitious direction for the joint activities of Krakow University of Technology and Elemental Strategic Metals. Work will focus on developing recycling technologies, recovery of strategic raw materials — especially from batteries and electronic devices — and creating solutions supporting the circular economy.
An important element of the cooperation will also be technological innovations aimed at increasing Poland’s raw material security and driving industrial transformation towards sustainable development – says Prof. Marcin Banach, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at Krakow University of Technology, and coordinator of the cooperation on behalf of the university.
The cooperation between the University and ESM can also contribute to modernizing the national economy and increasing its resilience to global raw material crises, as well as boosting Poland’s competitiveness in the field of green technologies.
